KOCHI: The High Court has retrained the trade unions of Bharat Petroleum to participate in the two-day national strike. Five organizations, including CITU and INTUC, had announced the strike. The High Court's decision is on a petition filed by Bharat Petroleum. The High Court said Bharat Petroleum's concern that it would not be able to supply fuel to defense, aviation and government agencies in the event of a strike is factual. Another bench of the high court has also ruled that the supply of fuel to Bharat Petroleum should not be disrupted.
Government workers and teachers will go on strike on March 28 and 29 in protest of the central government's anti-labour and new labour policy. A public interest litigation has been filed in the High Court against this. The petition seeks to impose dies non on officers on the day of the strike and to make attendance compulsory.
