NEW DELHI: The petrol and diesel prices were increased again by 84 paise and 81 paise per litre respectively, on Saturday. The fuel price hike has resumed on Tuesday, after a gap of four-and-a-half months. The petrol, diesel prices have gone up by more than Rs 3 per litre in the last five days.
On Saturday, the petrol price in Kochi surged to Rs 107.65 per litre while the diesel price climbed to Rs 94.72 per litre. Last day, the petrol price was hiked by 87 paise per liter and diesel by 84 paise. The prices are likely to rise in the coming days as well.
Fuel prices were held steady for the past four-and-a-half months following the assembly polls in five states. The last fuel hike in the country was in November 2021, in connection with Diwali. Price hike is likely in all major sectors. The price of domestic cylinders were also increased by Rs 50 after an interval of five months.
