KOTTAYAM: The survey process of the SilverLine project has resumed at Nattassery in Kottayam. Stones have been laid at 12 places in the region. Meanwhile, a protest has once again erupted in the area. Locals detained the tehsildar. They said that the authorities were challenging public sentiments by resuming the survey process.

"There needs to be clarity about this project. This is a blatant violation of the Land Acquisition Act. It is illegal to enter a private land and install boundary stones without the permission of the owner. Neither the government nor the revenue department is clear on this," the locals said.

It is learned that prominent UDF leaders in the district have started their journey to the area. The DCC president and others will soon reach Nattassery. The stones were installed under police protection. At the same time, Minister K Rajan said that the Revenue Department had not directed the installation of survey stones. He made it clear that the government would not take over the land by threatening anyone. Three survey stones were installed in the area last week. However, the locals immediately uprooted the stones and threw them into a ravine.
