THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: K-Rail has said that it will start a social impact study within a month, avoiding laying of stones in areas that protests against Silver Line. Five agencies have been given contract to lay stones in ten districts. The contract is for 40 to 60 lakhs for laying stones in 100 km. The total cost is around Rs 3 crore. Of the total 529.45 km of track, 175 km was paved.
Although the alignment was determined by the sky survey, the stone is laid to know exactly how it will affect anyone. Anyone can know the alignment on the website using GPS location data. This can vary from one to two meters. That is why the stone border is demarcated.
The social impact study conducted after the laying of stones knows exactly how many families will be evicted, how many people will be affected and how many buildings will be demolished. The Chief Minister has announced that more compensation will be given to the poor among the evictees, houses and land will be provided and jobs will be given to the deserving members of the affected families. Beneficiaries for this will also be found in the social impact study. According to K-Rail, jobs up to engineer can be offered according to educational qualifications.
