BAHRAIN: The Bahrain authorities closed an Indian restaurant after a woman in purdah were denied entry. The hotel manager stopped the purdah clad woman at Lanterns Restaurant. The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority has launched an investigation into the incident. The officials said the restaurant was closed under Decree No 15 of 1986. This law is related to tourism.

Meantime, the officials of Lanterns Restaurant came forward with an explanation on the incident. The incident is amid the ongoing controversy over the wearing of the hijab in educational institutions in India and Karnataka.
