Harsh criticisms were showered from the film industry and outside against the remarks of actor Vinayakan in connection with the MeToo allegation during the press meet of the film ‘Oruthee’. His remarks were in front of actress Navya Nair. Many came down heavily on her on the social media for not reacting against it.

Navya has clarified that she is ready to apologise for what happened that day if the problem would be solved. His MeToo statement was wrong. His controversial references caused difficulty and said that she was crucified for that. She added that a woman was crucified for what a man said.

‘If I apologize for the whole incident that happened that day, I sincerely apologize to everyone if the problem would be resolved. One thing you need to understand is that although what happened there was a man’s reference, a woman is still being crucified for that. How many men were there, all asking questions to me.’

‘I came here to watch the movie Oruthee along with a lot of Kudumbashree activists. This movie is the message of our team as well. The film portrays the strength of women. The film shows how a woman gets to the point of reaction. I'm back in films after a gap of ten years. Please allow me to celebrate the joy of it. Do not bother me asking more questions,’ she said.
