suicide

THALAYOLAPARAMBU: A woman, who was undergoing treatment after escaping from a mass suicide that left three members of a family of four dead, eventually succumbed to her injuries. Suvarna (24), youngest daughter of late Sukumaran of Brahmamangalam Kaalayil House, died while undergoing treatment at the Kottayam Medical College. On the night of November 8, a four-member family including Sukumaran, his wife and two children staying in a one-room house tried to commit suicide by consuming acid.

Sukumaran (57), his wife Seena (54) and their eldest daughter Soorya (27) had died. The incident came to light after Suvarna informed her uncle Santhosh staying nearby that they have consumed acid. Though all were immediately taken to a private hospital in Muttuchira and then at the medical college, three lost their lives in a difference of hours. The couple’s younger daughter Suvarna returned back to life following the treatment at Kottayam Medical College. She was admitted to the medical college for further treatment on March 7 due to oesophageal damage. Though she was subjected to two surgeries, she died after suffering cardiac arrest twice on Saturday.
