THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The national general strike called by the United Trade Unions against the central labour policies turned violent in many parts of Kerala. The protestors paralyzed public transport and businesses in the state. However, the strike was not severe in other parts of the country except Kerala.

Clashes broke out between BJP workers and protesters at Kattakada in Thiruvananthapuram. The clash broke out when the protesters blocked the road with chairs. Protesters blocked private vehicles in some places and took away the keys.

People who came for work were blocked. Protesters stopped a railway official who was traveling in his own vehicle at Pravachambalam. He had to go back finally.

The protestors deflated the tyres of an auto in Kozhikode. A person who was on his way to the railway station was dropped midway. The protestors blocked vehicles in front of the police in almost all the places.
