THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has declared dies non as a countermeasure to the strike of the government employees. The government has issued an order asking the employees to report for work. The government has now issued the order after receiving legal advice from the Advocate General.
Only 32 employees came to work in the secretariat on Monday. According to the Public Administration Department, the secretariat has 4,828 employees. Most of the ministers did not come to the secretariat today.
Chief Secretary VP Joy arrived at the office early in the morning. Key staff in the chief secretary's office also reported for work. Secretariat workers' unions have announced their support for the strike.
Due to the absence of staff, all the administrative activities of the secretariat came to a standstill. Attendance at other government offices was also low. Earlier, the high court had strongly criticized government employees for taking part in the strike.
Ordering the employees to not take part in the strike, the High Court said that government employees have no right to strike. The court said the rules were made clear in the service rules and asked the government to issue an order today.
