THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The district collector has ordered to open the petrol pumps in Kozhikode. He also directed the police to provide security for the pumps that are being opened. The Collector's order is with the view that the nationwide strike should not affect ambulances and other essential service vehicles.

The Collector pointed out that following the strike, vehicles carrying patients, including ambulances, and other emergency service vehicles are not getting diesel and petrol. The Collector asked the petrol pump owners to co-operate in providing fuel to ambulances and other essential service vehicles with a humanitarian approach.

Meanwhile, traders in Ernakulam district said that shops would be opened tomorrow. The announcement was made by five organizations, including the Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi. Theatres have opened in Kochi.
