high-court

KOCHI: The high court dismissed two pleas filed against the K Rail project. Justice N Nagaresh accepted the claim that the state government can take further action. The two pleas filed asserted that the government could not acquire land for K Rail. These pleas were dismissed.

The plea said K Rail is a separate railway project and the state government cannot acquire land or implement the project without the permission of the central government. The government had informed the court that K Rail was a normal project and not a separate project.

The government told the court that it had the power to acquire land and execute the project as it was not a separate railway project. The court accepted this argument. Once K Rail is included in the list of special railway projects, a special notification has to be issued in this regard.
