ISTANBUL: The latest round of peace talks between Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul witnessed major progress. Indications are that there is a possibility of a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
During the talks, Ukraine stated that it would not join NATO and would remain neutral if Russia guarantees the security of its country. Subsequently, Russia also promised to significantly reduce attacks around the cities of Kyiv and Chernivtsi.
The peace talk took place at the Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul on Tuesday. Alexander Fomin, Russia's deputy defence minister is leading the Russian delegation. The Russian delegation also includes negotiator Vladimir Medinsky. On the other hand, the Ukrainian Delegation is headed by David Arakhamia.
This is the first time in the negotiations between the two sides that a positive development has taken place.
The Putin-Selensky talks will take place as the foreign ministers of the two countries begin preparations for a peace deal.
