THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The dies-non order which was issued by the government as per the High Court order to resist the strike was not successful. Government offices remained vacant. The salary deduction based on dies-non order is also unlikely to happen.
Government issued dies-non order on Monday following a High Court ruling that government employees have no right to strike. But even in collectorates, attendance was below 10 per cent. Out of the 4824 employees of the Secretariat, 212 were present. Attendance was 5 percent. Attendance at the Collectorates is 12 to 19 percent. Village offices and various departmental offices were not opened. KSRTC services also did not take place. There were also violent attacks on buses by protesters. In KSEB, 22 per cent of the officers and 7.5 per cent of the employees came to work. It has a total of 33,000 employees.
As the salary bills have been passed, the salary deduction is not possible. If it is to be deducted from next month's salary, the government must issue a special order. If such an order is issued, the employees can question it in court. The two-day strike has caused loss of crores of rupees to the government and in the field of trade and commerce.
