KOCHI: Indian American Raj Subramaniam (56), who hails from Kerala, has been named the new CEO of FedEx, the world's largest courier service corporation. He will take charge when founder Frederick W Smith steps down in June. FedEx has six lakh employees globally.

Raj Subramaniam was born in Kerala as the son of C Subramaniam, former DGP of Kerala and Dr. B Kamalammal. He is an alumnus of Loyola School, Thiruvananthapuram. He joined FedEx in 1991.

He is currently a member of the Board of Directors. He has also served as president and CEO of FedEx Express and vice president and communications officer of FedEx Corporation.
