KOLLAM: Protests continue against the laying of survey stones for SilverLine. Ajaya Kumar of Kottiyam Thazhuthala village, protested by opening his gas cylinder. He wrote a death note and pasted it on the wall.

He said that his decision is to commit suicide if he loses his land and house. However, the locals intervened, locked the cylinder and resisted him from the act. He had threatened to commit suicide the last time also when officers came to lay the stones at Thazhuthala.

‘I am also a party activist. The government's claim that the survey is not for land acquisition is a lie. He told the media that he built the house after working in the Gulf for 30 years and that he has no other option but to commit suicide.’

The locals staged protests after indications that stones would be laid in the area this morning. The BJP and Congress workers have also reached the spot to protest. Some of the locals tried to protest keeping the gas cylinders open. The protesters said they will not allow the stones to be laid. A large contingent of police has arrived in the area.
