THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following the increase in bus fares in the state, auto-taxi fares have also been increased. The new decision was announced by Transport Minister Antony Raju. The minimum charge below 1500 cc will now be Rs 200. The minimum charge above Rs 1500 is Rs 225. The kilometer rate has been increased from Rs 17 to Rs 20.

The minimum wage for an auto has been raised to Rs 30. One can travel two kilometers for 30 rupees. The charge per km has been increased from Rs 12 to Rs 15. However, there will be no increase in the waiting charge.

Although the bus fare has been increased from Rs 8 to Rs 10, there is no change in the concession rate for students. Despite the hike, bus owners said they were not satisfied with the government's action.
