NEW DELHI: The hasty efforts of the European Union, in addition to the major powers of the United States, Russia and China, to seek India's support can be seen as evidence of India's transformation into a global political and diplomatic power.

For the past 10 days, there has been an influx of leaders and top officials from these countries into India. India is rising to a decisive position in the world order and power blocs.

Following the "secret" arrival of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, US Deputy National Security Adviser Daleep Singh will arrive today and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov tomorrow.

Daleep Singh, the mastermind of the US sanctions on Russia, will hold talks with Indian officials, while Lavrov will hold talks with Foreign Minister S Jaishankar.

British Foreign Secretary Elizabeth Truss will also arrive in Delhi today. She will meet the officials and attend a conference with Jaishankar.

One week ago, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland was in Delhi to discuss the Ukraine crisis. A '2+2' foreign and defence ministerial dialogue will take place between the two countries in April.

On Monday, EU Special Envoy for the Indo-Pacific Gabriele Visentin visited New Delhi. India had abstained from voting on the Ukraine resolutions at the United Nations. During his visit to India, Gabriele urged India to change its stand.

German Chancellor's Security and Foreign Policy Adviser Jens Plotner also arrived in India. National Security Adviser Ajit Doval held talks with him. Plotner later said he would not advise India on the Ukraine issue.
