THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet has approved the purchase of Vconsol developed by startup Techgentsia. With this, V-Consol will become the official video conferencing platform of Kerala.

Although the license price is Rs 43 crore, the software is provided by Techgentsia for free. Instead, the government will pay for the rent of 15,000 sq ft of land in the Kochi and Cherthala infoparks for the startup. The contract will be for five years.

Ten thousands of ports will be used in the first phase. Video conferencing of various departments will now be available through this system. The Central Government is using the same platform under the name of Bharat VC. The online sittings of the Kerala High Court are on V-consol.

5.18 acres of land by Prabhuram Mills, a public sector undertaking will be given to KINFRA to set up a Rice Technology Park. Literacy motivators in the State Literacy Mission will be redeployed to the Local Self Government Department. The Forest Department will be provided 20 vehicles, including 10 approved by the Finance Department and 10 from the Kampa Fund.

The Department of Project Evaluation and Monitoring will create 9 Executive Assistant posts in the Office of the District Development Commissioner on a three-year contract basis.
