KANNUR: A 21-year-old woman who chased down a 53-year-old man, who ran away after behaving indecently with her on a bus, and handed him over to the police has become a star on social media. PT Aarathi, a native of Kuthirummal in Karivellur, was on her way to Kanhangad when she had this awful experience. She chased down Rajeev, a native of Maniyattu in Thrikkarippur.

Aarathi, who was the NCC senior under officer in the college, was travelling in a busy KSRTC bus on the day of the private bus strike. When the bus reached Neeleswaram, a person standing behind started annoying her. It was initially thought to be unintentional. She asked her to stand back as he continued with his immodest behaviour. Following this, the conductor asked him to step aside after the incident was brought to his attention. However, he wasn't holding and they were forced to inform the police.

When the bus reached Kanhangad and the woman picked up the phone to call the cops, he got off and ran away. The young woman ran after him for about a hundred meters. In the meantime, she took a photo of him on her mobile phone. When Aarathi saw him standing in a lottery shop pretending to take a lottery ticket, she went there. Rajeev was detained by the people present and Hosdurg police took him into custody.

Aarathi graduated from Kanhangad Nehru College last year. She is the daughter of P Thampan Panicker and T Preetha from Kuthiremmele in Karivellur.
