THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader VD Satheesan on Friday said that the Congress party should be the one reacting to the INTUC protest against him at Changanassery. Satheesan also said that there was no need to change his opinion that the INTUC was not a feeder organization of the Congress.

"I stand by my earlier position on the violence that broke out during the strike. I had condemned the violence that took place in connection with the two-day strike. I will not encourage violent struggles," Satheesan said. He also said that CITU and the CPM were responsible for the violence that took place in various parts of the state.

"I haven't said anything against INTUC. Some groups are trying to create unnecessary disturbances within the party for political gains. The party will take a decision on the demonstration in Changanassery. I have spoken to INTUC president R Chandrasekharan in this regard," he added.

Satheesan, who said that the INTUC was an integral organization working in connection with the Congress, added that the integral organization and the feeder organization are two.

"Congress cannot give commands to the INTUC. The INTUC does not function as a feeder organization like the Youth Congress, the Mahila Congress or the Seva Dal. It is an independent association that has a special election. There is no need to change my stance," he said.
