MUMBAI: Former Indian player Ajay Jadeja has said that the behavior of Chennai Super Kings player and former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who set the field and changed bowlers during the IPL match against the Lucknow Super Giants, was unethical. He said that although he is a big Dhoni fan, there are some things he cannot refuse to say. Ajay Jadeja made the remarks in an interview with cricket website Cricbuzz.
Jadeja said that Dhoni's decision to step down as Chennai Super Kings captain was his own choice and that nobody had put pressure on Dhoni to make that decision. Ajay Jadeja said that the team did this to implement Dhoni's decision that Chennai needed a better captain after his tenure and that he needed to train someone for the Captaincy. Jadeja however said that one can learn right only by making mistakes and how can Ravindra Jadeja learn if he is removed from his postion as soon as he makes a mistake. Ajay Jadeja also alleged that Dhoni's decision to replace Ravindra Jadeja had damaged Jadeja's confidence.
He continued that it would have been understandable if such a move had been made in a crucial match but it was the first two matches of the tournament. On the TV screen, Dhoni was seen setting the field instead of Ravindra Jadeja in the first IPL match of the Chennai Super Kings against the Kolkata Knight Riders and also in the second match against the Lucknow Super Giants. On both occasions, captain Ravindra Jadeja was on the outfield. Coach Stephen Fleming,CSK coach who came to the ground during the break in the first match, had a conversation with Dhoni instead of Jadeja. This also became controversial.
