THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sree Chitra Thirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology will provide free treatment through the Karunya Arogya Suraksha Padhathi (KASP) from the second week of April. Sree Chitra and the State Health Agency (SHA) have signed an agreement in this regard. Those who do not have a KASP card will get free treatment through the Karunya Benevolent Fund.

'Karunya' was discontinued when KASP was launched in association with the treatment schemes of the Central and State Governments. It was only after discussions with the state government that it was decided to include Sree Chitra in KASP.

The kiosk of the State Health Agency will soon be set up at Sree Chitra for the project. Sree Chitra staff will be trained on KASP procedures.

Free treatment worth Rs 5 lakh

For 42 lakh families in the state who have KASP card

Free treatment of Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year through KASP

Non-KASP members will be included in the Karunya Benevolent Fund (KBF)

KBF assistance is available to those with an annual income of less than Rs 3 lakh

Assistance of Rs. 2 lakhs to the family through KBF

3 lakh for kidney transplants

Those earning more than Rs 3 lakh will not get free treatment.
