MALAPPURAM: Police have arrested the main accused in the murder of Manjeri municipal councillor Abdul Jaleel. The arrested has been identified as Nellikkunnath native Shuhaib. He was arrested from Tamil Nadu.
Abdul Jaleel was attacked by the culprits on March 29 night following a dispute over vehicle parking. Jaleel, who was travelling in an Innova car, was attacked by a group of men. He sustained serious head injuries and died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Perinthalmanna. Jaleel was the UDF councillor of the 16th ward and a leader of the Muslim League.
Earlier, police had arrested two accused named Shamshir (32) and Abdul Majeed (26) in the case. Police also took the bike of the accused into custody.
