ALAPPUZHA: MLA P P Chitharanjan has lodged a complaint with the district collector against the charging exorbitant prices for food at hotels. The MLA's move came after he was charged Rs 184 for five appam and two egg curries. Action should be taken against hotels in the Alappuzha constituency for overcharging, stated the complaint.

The MLA had his breakfast from a hotel at Kanichukulangara, last day. He was charged Rs 184 for five appams, which were very light, and two egg curries. He was charged Rs 15 for the appam and Rs 50 for the egg and a little gravy. ‘I did not eat at a star hotel. I was told it was an AC hotel. However, there was no AC inside’, alleged the MLA. He also pointed out that the price list was not displayed at the hotel.
