KOZHIKODE: A man died after his drunk friend poured petrol and set him on fire. The dead has been identified as Shaukat (48), a native of Koduvally in Kozhikode. Shaukat, who had suffered severe burns, was undergoing treatment for a long time.

Shaukat was set ablaze by his friend Mani on March 13. The attack took place at a shop yard near Kozhikode railway station. The accused Mani is a native of Tamil Nadu.

Mani was arrested by the police following the incident and was remanded. He was taken into custody from Thalassery after the attack. A dispute while drinking had led to the murder, said the police.
