NEW DELHI: The iPhone of Tamilachchi Thangapandia, woman MP was stolen during the inaugural function of Anna Kalaignar Arivalayam, the office of the DMK in New Delhi. The theft happened amidst tight security at the function attended by VIPs.

She is the MP from South Chennai constituency. Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, S P chief Akhilesh Yadav, CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury and National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah were the chief guests at the function. Only invited guests attended the ceremony. Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Leaders of Trinamool Congress, TDP, CPI, BJD and Shiromani Akali Dal were also present on the occasion. A part of the office was inaugurated by Sonia Gandhi. The Congress is the DMK's ally in Tamil Nadu.

The office is spread over three floors and covers an area of ​​8000 square feet. The statues of former chief ministers Anna and Karunanidhi have been erected at the entrance of the building. A book about Karunanidhi ‘Karunanidhi: A Life’ was also released at the function.
