COLOMBO: Sri Lankan Prime Minister's Office has refuted the reports of the resignation of PM Mahinda Rajapaksa that came out on Sunday and stated that there are no such plans at present.


Sri Lanka is currently in an economic crisis following a foreign exchange shortage which has led to a food, fuel, power, and gas shortage. The island nation has sought the help of friendly countries for economic assistance.


The country is witnessing an energy crisis with long hours of power cuts on a daily basis. Its currency has also gone down to SLR 90 against the US dollar since March 8.


Following the declaration of curfew, the roads in the nation remain deserted, with police forces and army personnel stationed everywhere.


Protests were held throughout the country, with people breaking the curfew.
