MUVATTUPUZHA: Mathew Kuzhalnadan MLA said that he will take over the debt of the family that is facing foreclosure. He will repay the loan at Muvattupuzha Urban Bank and return the documents to the family.

On Saturday, the bank officials confiscated a house in Payipra, after leaving the children out. The loan arrears is around Rs 1.5 lakh. The house belongs to Ajesh, a photographer belonging to the scheduled caste. Ajesh has four children who are school students. His son is in class 10. His twin girls study in seventh standard and younger girls in five. Ajesh and his wife, who have been suffering from heart problems for some time, were in the hospital during the foreclosure procedures. The MLA came and broke the lock and took the children inside the house. Mathew Kuzhalnadan said the issue is not being politicized and was becoming a normal occurrence.

It was just a legal action: Gopi Kottamurikkal

Gopi Kottamurikkal, chairman of the bank, said the foreclosure in Payipra was only a legal action. "Officials arrived with the court order after handing over a letter to the police a week ago. Mostly, none is around the house. The children weren't evicted from the house. The children who arrived later took their books and other belongings and went to their mother's house. We weren't aware of the family's situation. Neighbours did not tell us that Ajesh was in the hospital. This problem could have been solved if the MLA had just called. The MLA should have helped the family by paying off the loan arrears", Gopi Kottamurikal, who is also the president of Kerala Bank, said.
