KANNUR: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the strength of the Left government is the support given by the people. He was officiating the state-level inauguration of the first anniversary celebrations of the state government in Kannur.

"Kerala has witnessed all-around development. The Centre is cutting its allocation to the states. Why can't the opposition speak up? Did the Opposition say that Kerala should be given its due share? The poor people believed that Rahul Gandhi would be the Prime Minister. People who become MPs this way went to the parliament and did not utter a word", the Chief Minister said.

"In Kerala, a KIIFB project of Rs 62,000 crore has been prepared. The government did not differentiate between the LDF and the UDF for the development of the state. The opposition is against everything. Higher education institutions are the most important factor in modernizing the country. 1500 new hostel rooms will be created in the universities. 250 international hostel rooms will also be built. The projects are designed to employ at least 20 lakh people", the minister added.

The Chief Minister scoffed at a Union Minister who opposed the Silver Line project "Haven't everyone seen the reaction of the people? The people understood everything. How can a Union Minister take such a negative approach?", he asked.

"V Muraleedharan understood the matter directly from the people. There was a healthy discussion on this issue with the Prime Minister. He has taken a positive attitude. How can a member of his cabinet take such a stand?", asked the Chief Minister.
