One should wait and watch whose will be the next move in Pakistan, a country swirling in constitutional crises amid the latest developments. The army has not yet responded to the dissolution of the country’s National Assembly. In the current situation, it needs to be considered that Pakistan is moving towards interim elections. Until then, Imran khan’s caretaker cabinet will remain in power. However, this cannot be expected to bring any change in their Indian policy.

Anti-India has been the basic policy adopted by all the governments that comes to power in Pakistan. No Pakistani government can bring changes in the Kashmir policy. They will continue to give support to the Kashmir terrorists as well. This is the official policy of the Pakistan Army. As polls are coming ahead, Pakistan, in no way, can support the BJP-led government in India. Instead, the criticisms rooted in Hindutva are likely to strengthen during the period.

India has been mentioned twice in the crisis that has rocked Pakistani politics. One, Imran Khan praised India’s independent foreign policy. That is, India is able to maintain strategic relationship and friendship with the US and Russia simultaneously. Two, the current political crisis faced by Imran Khan was caused by a conspiracy between the US and India. Imran Khan has alleged that their aim is to overthrow his regime. Both these references are two mere justifications that will work only in the current Pakistan politics.

Imran’s regime has always been utterly hostile towards India. Imran always criticized India whenever he got an opportunity. The basic reasons for such approaches and criticisms are the ongoing Kashmir dispute and the terror activities targeting India. The Pakistan government’s anti-India attitude will continue strongly in the future as well. Imran Khan has harshly criticized the right-wing policies, especially of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, since coming to power in 2018. He has many a time reiterated that India is a Hindu nation. He has given special priority to strengthen his relations with China and Afghanistan to formulate a new alliance against India. Why did Khan adopt such an anti-India policy? That is because, it remains an issue of the very survival of the military-backed government in Pakistan.

The Pakistan-China ties are likely to strengthen against India. Recently, the Chinese foreign affairs minister had raised the Kashmir issue at a summit of Islamic nations in order to please Pakistan. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) that passes through the Pak occupied Kashmir is also likely to strengthen their bond. The situation in Afghanistan will only worsen the India-Pakistan relations. Imran Khan’s sudden Russia visit can also be considered as a tactic to put India under pressure.

In the upcoming Pakistan polls, Kashmir issue and anti-India campaigns will turn out to be the major topics of discussions. All political parties will trigger such extremist stances to strive for victories. Imran’s caretaker government is unlikely to get any chance to improve relations with India. In such a scenario, Pakistan’s assistance to terrorists and the border conflicts may also increase. In short, the political instability in Pakistan will destabilize India-Pakistan relations once again.
