THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department has warned a possibility of the formation of low pressure in the Bay of Bengal. A cyclone is expected to form over the southern Andaman Sea on April 6. The meteorological department said it was likely to develop into a low pressure area in the south-eastern Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours. Meantime, the thundershowers are likely to continue in Kerala for the next five days.
Move to a safe place as soon as you notice the signs of lightning. It is advisable to stay indoors and avoid open spaces. Close windows and doors during the time of strong winds and thunderstorms. It is dangerous to stay close to them.
Disconnect electrical appliances and do not touch them. Do not use the telephone during thunderstorms. There is no risk of using a mobile phone.
Avoid standing under trees and parking vehicles during thunderstorms. Meantime, it is advisable to stay in vehicles if you are outside during thunderstorms.
If the sky is cloudy in the afternoon, avoid children playing in the open air or on the terrace. Avoid taking clothes hung on the terrace or yard when it is about to rain.
Do not tie pets like goats and cows in open areas during lightning. Do not go fishing or bathing in the water. Avoid collecting water from the tap and bathing. There is a possibility of electricity passing through the pipes at the time of lightning.
