THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The procedures to set up new artificial intelligence (AI) cameras, to reduce road accidents in Kerala, have reached its final phase. The aim is to reduce the state’s road accidents by half within the next two years.

As per the new technology, the software itself will determine the fines after evaluating the traffic violations. If a law violation is captured by the camera, then it will be directly sent to the central government’s server. From there, the details of the fine amount will be sent as an SMS to the vehicle owner. The details will simultaneously reach a special court as well.

More than 4,000 deaths occur due to road accidents in the state. Most of it is caused due to over speeding.
