KOCHI: A complaint has been registered citing that a transgender woman was allegedly attacked by her transgender friend. The incident took place in last December. The complaint was lodged by Ahalya Krishna, a first year graduation student of Maharajas College, against Arpitha, who stays with her.
The complaint states that Arpitha had forcefully placed ignited camphor on Ahalya’s palm claiming that she was possessed by an evil spirit. Since we were staying together, I was not able to react at the time. I tried to go to hospital, but she didn’t allow me out of fear that it might lead to a police case. Instead, I was given medicines, stated the complaint.
However, I sought medical help as the burns became serious. I was admitted to the hospital for five days. I told the hospital authorities that I had burned myself. I did not tell anything to the police out of fear, said the victim.
Now I have moved out from the place and filed the complaint as all the members of the transgender community compelled me to do so, she revealed. The police have begun investigation in the case.
