street-vendors

RIYAD: The municipality authorities of the Northern Emirates have warned people of buying cheap food from illegal street vendors. Strict action has been taken against illegal street vendors in the municipalities of Sharjah, Ajman and Fujairah. Such activities will not be tolerated during the holy month of Ramdan, said Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, the director general of Sharjah municipality. A crackdown has been initiated on such activities, he said.

In the Gulf, illegal street vendors are usually seen near the accommodation of workers, who will buy such food as they are cheaper than in restaurants. However, most of them use expired ingredients to make snacks which often leads to food poisoning.
