SRI NAGAR: A girl was allegedly beaten by a teacher at a school in Srinagar for wearing tilak. Nisar Ahmed, a teacher at a government school, has been suspended following a complaint by the girl's family. The suspension was ordered by the Rajouri Deputy Commissioner.
The order mentions that social media posts about a teacher beating two girls in Khadurian panchayath recently came to their attention. Violence against children is punishable by up to six months' imprisonment or a fine or both. Police have started an investigation into the incident. It is being investigated whether what the girl's parents said was the reason for the incident. Rajouri senior SP Mohammad Aslam Chowdhury said the incident was being investigated as it was noticed that the teacher had beaten and abused the child.
