THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The KSEB Officers' Association is continuing its protest against the KSEB chairman by ignoring dies-non and other disciplinary actions. Meanwhile, chairman Dr B Ashok gave a "shock treatment" to the protesters by suspending organization president MG Suresh Kumar. With this, the atmosphere of peace created by the LDF and Electricity Minister has been once again destroyed. MG Suresh Kumar is an executive engineer in the Power System division.
Minister K Krishnankutty has approved the suspension procedure. The Officers' Association organised protests in front of the Vaidyuthi Bhavan and the entire circle against the action. Pro-CPM officers' association is gearing up for a strong fight against the chairman.
The KSEB management had suspended executive engineer Jasmine Banu for keeping away from work without applying for leave. Suresh Kumar was suspended for trying to disrupt the review meeting of the projects by storming into the chairman's room.
Suresh Kumar, who is a leader of the Workers' Association, had also served as private secretary to former CPM leaders AK Balan, Kadakampally Surendra When NM and MM Mani when they were electricity ministers.
Insulted management and ministers
The director board in its statement stated that Suresh Kumar had been insulting the management and the minister and obstructing administrative action ever since the new chairman and managing director took charge. The suspension was also triggered by his action of publically insulting the chief secretary and the high court on TV channels. He will also be issued a charge memo for misusing the board's vehicle.
Meanwhile, the officers' association alleged that Suresh Kumar's suspension was a continuation of the KSEB chairman's retaliatory action. The unjustified action against the president of the organization comes amid protests against the suspension of Jasmine Banu. Associate General Secretary B Harikumar said that they will discuss with the leaders to formulate further agitations. The High Court will hear a petition seeking revocation of Jasmine Banu's suspension on Friday.
