KOLLAM: The baby buffalo was was three months old when he boarded a train from Haryana to Kerala three years ago. It was brought to Veliyam native T C Vinod's farm and was meant to be raised and sold. But now the buffalo weighs 1200 kg and is now busy attending local festivals and exhibitions as a VIP. There are many people who come to Vinod's Summerland farm after hearing this news. It was estimated that the buffalo which was bought for Rs 20,000 could be sold for Rs 80,000. Now people offer much money and four lakhs was offered once. But Vinod is not ready to sell it anymore. This fast growth is due to the rare change in the DNA. The buffalo's height is also a little low. It never attacked anyone. Three people can be carried on it back. If Vinod calls him 'Bheema' at any time of the night, he will jump up and down. There are 15 cows and as many buffaloes in Summerland. He doesn't attack anyone.
'The farm was started in 2009. Raised about a hundred buffaloes. But at a young age, not a single buffalo weighed as much.' said TC Vinod
"Feed conversion capacity of the buffalo is high due to its unique genetic structure. There are only one or two buffaloes in a million which fces this.". said Dr. D. Shinekumar, Asst. Director, Animal protection board
