BENGALURU: We don’t know anything about the video released by Al-Qaeda praising our daughter, said Muskan Khan’s father Mohammad Hussain Khan. The video of Al-Qaeda chief Ayman Al Zawahiri, reciting a poem in praise of Karnataka college student Muskan Khan for voicing against the government’s hijab ban, had surfaced last day.

Muskan’s father termed the comments of the terrorist leader as ‘wrong’ and said that he and his family were living peacefully in India. Such incidents are disturbing the peace of the family. The police and state government can initiate any inquiry to ascertain the truth, he said.

“We don’t know anything about the video, we don’t know who he is. I saw him today for the first time. He has said something in Arabic. People say whatever they want. This is unnecessarily causing trouble. We are all living here with love and trust like brothers. We don't want him to talk about us, as he is not related to us. It is wrong, it is an attempt to create division among us,” Mohammad Hussain Khan said in his response to the media.

Al-Qaeda had released the video with the title 'India's noble lady'. In his poem, Zawahiri had addressed Muskan as ‘sister’. He has supposedly stayed on top of developments in India through social media. ‘I was so impressed with the video of Muskan that I decided to pen a poem for her’, he said in the video. The hijab controversy has brought the reality of 'Hindu India' and its democracy to the fore, he said and called for the Indian Muslims to react against such oppressions.
