KOTTAYAM: The body of one of the Malayalee students who drowned during a holiday in Karnataka while washed away by waves in a beach in Udupi was found. The death toll rose to three. The deceased have been identified as 22-year old Alan Reji, 22-year old Amal C Anil and 21-year old Anthony Shenoy, final year computer engineering students of Ettumanoor Mangalam Engineering College. The students are from Pampady, Udayamperur and Moolamattom.

He was taking a selfie off a rock near the beach when he slipped and fell into the sea. A group of 42 people, including teachers and students, left the college on Tuesday evening. The students climbed the cliff to take a selfie when they reached Udupi beach on St. Mary's Island this afternoon.

According to police, 42 students and two teachers arrived in Karnataka as part of the tour.

The bodies of the deceased students are being kept in the mortuary at the Udupi District Hospital. Malpe police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
