CHITTAR: In a bizarre turn of events, a man asked police officials to jail him and after being sent back by the cops, he hurled stones at a private bus in a bid to have a case registered against him. After taking him to the station the man created a ruckus there and kicked a grade ASI. He also smashed chairs and a scanner inside the station. Two cases were registered against him for hurling stones at the bus and trespassing at the station. The accused was identified as Shaji Thomas (Achayi-40), a resident of Manakkayam in Chittar. The damage in the station will amount to about Rs 25,000. The victim was intoxicated with ganja and did the crime at around 4 pm on Wednesday. The incident came to the notice of the outside world after the video of this was circulated yesterday.

Shaji was previously an employee of a private bus. A case has been registered against him for hijacking a KSRTC bus from Pathanamthitta and a private school bus from Thiruvalla. He has been jailed in several theft cases. Police said that he was a middleman who was supplying ganja in Chittar. The accused, who was produced in court, was remanded.
