KOTTAYAM: Senior congress leader K V Thomas said that he got many calls from New Delhi to know about attending a seminar on the CPM party congress. He said Mallikarjuna Kharge was among those who called. Everyone knows things. Thomas said he is not the first person to attend the CPM seminar. He said that he has not decided when to go to Kannur.

Meantime, there are reports that the KPCC leadership is confused as to what disciplinary action should be taken against Thomas if he attends the seminar after violating party directive. Action from warning to suspension are under consideration. A section is of the stand to ignore Thomas. Sudhakaran will hold discussions with senior leaders including Oommen Chandy to avoid dissent in the action. A decision will be taken after that. The high command is of the stand that the KPCC can take a decision on disciplinary action.

As the press meet is assessed as disciplinary violation and though action can be taken immediately, the high command is of the stand that nothing should be done hastily.

As Thomas is an AICC member, it is up to the national leadership to take action. The national leadership had also directed not to attend the seminar. Action should be taken by the disciplinary committee chaired by A K Antony, secretary Tariq Anwar and member Ambika Soni.

Thomas announced his decision to attend the seminar at the press meet convened yesterday. He said that he is not going to the CPM, going to Kannur to discuss an issue of national importance and that only the Congress national leadership could oust him.

Thomas said that he will not leave the congress. There is no anxiety on KPCC chief K Sudhakaran’s threat to expel him if attended the seminar. Only the AICC can expel me. Let the national leadership decide. I informed to attend the seminar as it is a topic of national interest. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin attending the seminar is also of national importance.
