KANNUR: The CPM Party Congress has endorsed the tactical political line of securing the maximum number of votes of secular and democratic forces against the BJP in the elections. It also approved the stance that the party will have no political alliance with the Congress at the national level.
Efforts must be taken to unite secular and democratic forces as much as possible against the neo-liberal and Hindutva agenda of the BJP-RSS regime. According to the CPM leadership, it is up to the Congress to express its stance on this. The political resolution also stated that regional alliances in each region can be decided in due course.
Earlier, amendment proposals were sent by the Kerala faction seeking to remove ambiguity regarding the Congress in the broad coalition of secular parties against the BJP. However, these proposals were rejected after Sitaram Yechury explained that there was no lack of clarity. The political resolution was unanimously approved.
The party must intensify the struggle against BJP by taking up the struggles of farmers, women, students, youth and other socially oppressed sections.
During the delegates' discussion on the draft political resolution, 390 new amendments and 12 proposals came up. Over the two days, 35 people attended the discussion. In the evening, General Secretary Sitaram Yechury responded to the discussion. Senior PB member Prakash Karat then presented the political organization report.
