NEW DELHI: Hafiz Talha Saeed, son of Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of the Mumbai terror attacks, has been declared a terrorist. Talha was declared a terrorist by the Home Ministry under the 1967 UAPA section.
He was declared terrorist in the wake of evidence of working in Pakistan and Afghanistan against India. Hafiz Talha Saeed is a senior leader of the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organization. The notification issued by the home ministry said that Talha is actively involved in recruitment, fund collection, and planning and executing attacks by the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in India.
Hafiz Saeed was sentenced by a Pakistani anti-terrorism court to 31 years in prison yesterday. The court ordered the seizure of all assets of Saeed, founder of LeT and the chief of Jamaat-ud-Dawa. A fine of Rs 3,40,000 was also imposed.
