KANNUR: Finance Minister K N Balagopal said the party faced serious setback in West Bengal. Speaking at the party congress, K N Balagopal lashed out at the West Bengal faction for the serious lapses incurred. It is anti-organizational to violate the policy of the party and form a front in the elections.
The party’s central leadership did not intervene in this anti-organizational action. Balagopal also criticized the central leadership for not being able to develop the party.
Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu unit of the party criticized the state government's dream project SilverLine. The party representative in Tamil Nadu sought a clarity on the project. The Bengal faction warned the state faction to remember the experience of Singur and Nandigram.
Meantime, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin and Congress leader K V Thomas arrived in Kannur to attend a seminar on 'Relations between the Centre and the States' at the party congress. Thomas had told the media that he is attending the seminar as a Congress activist and that the ideas of the Congress would be discussed in the seminar. Thomas said that he is not afraid of the disciplinary action and would not kneel down now thinking the sky would fall.
