KANNUR: Sitaram Yechury will continue as CPM general secretary. It has been confirmed that A Vijayaraghavan will make it to the Polit Bureau from Kerala. State ministers KN Balagopal and P Rajeev will make it to the party's central committee. CS Sujatha and P Sathi Devi are the women representatives from Kerala in the committee. These decisions were taken at a PB meeting on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, Sitaram Yechury said the CPM was ready for electoral alliances with secular parties. He said the party was giving priority to regional alliances with the aim of weakening the BJP in all states.

However, leaders from Kerala have been sharply critical of the CPM central leadership. Finance Minister K.N Balagopal and P. Sathi Devi criticised the central leadership during the discussion on the political and organizational report presented by Polit Bureau member Prakash Karat.

Balagopal criticized the party for not being able to actively engage in national politics despite having so many leaders working in Delhi.
