Such a rumour is fueled by his recent political manoeuvres in Delhi. Arif Mohammad Khan has managed to grab national attention by clashing with the only Left government in the country. It won't be surprising if Arif Mohammad Khan, who has close ties with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and top BJP leaders, becomes the next Vice President of the country. The Vice Presidential elections will take place in August.

The Vice President is elected by an Electoral College, which consists of members of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, by the system of proportional representation using single transferable votes and the voting is by secret ballot. Nominated members also have the right to vote. The BJP has 301 members in the Lok Sabha and 101 in the Rajya Sabha. There are also 1241 legislators in various states. The ruling party has the upper hand in terms of vote value. There are indications that Vice President Venkaiah Naidu himself will be the BJP's presidential candidate. In that case, the BJP may plot to field a Muslim candidate for the post of Vice President. The BJP central leadership has to take the final decision in this regard.

The BJP is likely to project Arif Mohammad Khan as a minority face. Arif Mohammad Khan is a leader who can embrace the Hindutva stance of the BJP. Arif Mohammad Khan, who has been the Governor of Kerala since September 2019, is generally supported by the BJP and Sangh Parivar organizations. However, Arif Mohammad Khan is rubbishing the rumours regarding him contesting for the post of vice president.
