THODUPUZHA: Police said the girl’s mother and grandmother have a role in the case of sexually abusing the 17-year-old for the past one and a half years. It has been found that the girl was sexually abused with the support of the two.

The child welfare committee directed the police to take a case against them. The girl’s child marriage was held in 2020. A case was registered against her mother then.

The Thodupuzha police arrested intermediary Kumarammangalam Mangalath House Raghu (Baby, 51), KSEB employee Kallurkadu Vellaramkallu native Valampillil Sajeev (55) Kottoor Thankachan (56) from Maniyadumpara, Ramapuram, Kurinji, Kottayam, Binu (43) from Valiyajaram, Pokkalathu, Valiyajaram, Thomas Chacko (27) from Pinakattu, Parappuzha and John (50) from Malappuram, Perunthalmanna.

The girl had stated that about 15 people including them have sexually abused her. The girl has been a victim of abuse since she was 15 years old. The girl has no father. Her mother was lying ill. Raghu, a broker approached the girl offering her a job in 2020.

Believing him, the girl along with Raghu met Thankachan. He was the first to abuse the girl. He then took the girl to several people after accepting a big amount. She was abused till two months ago.

The girl was found to be pregnant when she was taken to the hospital following stomach pain. The hospital authorities then informed the child line workers and then the police took the girl's statement and arrested the accused. Police have intensified investigation for the remaining accused.


The accused were produced in the court and remanded on POCSO charges. A team led by Thodupuzha DySP Jean Paul conducted the probe. Circle inspector V C Vishnu Kumar, sub inspectors Krishnan Nair and Haridas, ASIs Shamsuddin, Najeeb, Nisar, Usha Devi, SCPO Bindu and CPO Neetu were in the team
