KOCHI: The crime branch team probing the actress assault case has stated it cannot question Kavya Madhavan, Dileep's wife and witness in the case, at her home. However, Kavya told the probe team that it was difficult for her to travel to any place other than home for questioning. Kavya told the crime branch that she was a witness in the case and therefore had the right to choose the appropriate place for questioning. Kavya also said that the investigating officers could question her as per law.

Kavya had informed the crime branch via SMS yesterday that she was ready to undergo questioning at her husband's residence in Aluva at 2 pm on Wednesday. However, it is learned that the investigating officers are not interested in questioning Kavya in the presence of Dileep, the main accused in the case.

Kavya was earlier given the notice to appear at the Aluva Police Club at 11 am today. However, Kavya on Sunday evening expressed to the investigating officials her inconvenience to appear for questioning on Monday. With this, the crime branch team's move to question Kavya along with Balachandra Kumar also came to a standstill.

Kavya, who was abroad, arrived in Chennai yesterday. She returned to her home in Aluva from Chennai this morning.
