THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Isolated rains are likely to lash the state on Tuesday. The meteorological department has warned of heavy rains in the afternoon. Yellow alert has been declared in four districts of Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Idukki.

According to the meteorological department, strong winds and rains are likely to continue for five more days. During these days, there is a probability of thundershowers and winds up to 40 kilometre per hour, from 2 pm till 10 pm.

The coastal dwellers have been asked to remain vigilant as there is a possibility of sea turbulence and waves of 1.2 to 1.5 metre high off the Kerala coast on Tuesday. The ban on fishing still continues and the water in rivers will rise as heavy rains are expected in the hilly areas.
