THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The KSRTC Swift has been in news for causing an accident on its maiden trip. The vehicle flagged off by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at Thampanoor last evening met with two accidents. The first accident took place at Kallambalam yesterday when hit the side of a lorry coming from the opposite direction. The side mirror worth Rs 35,000 of the bus had fallen down. The journey continued with the installation of an ordinaray mirror used in KSRTC bus.
The second accident happened today while coming to Thiruvananthapuram from Kozhikode. No one was injured in the collision with a private bus at Malappuram Chankuvetty. Some paint of the bus is gone. Meantime, KSRTC MD Biju Prabhakar has informed to lodge a complaint with the DGP alleging suspicion in the new bus accident. KSRTC suspects private lobby to be behind the accident. Swift is an independent company formed under KSRTC for long distance services. The company started service with 116 buses, including eight AC sleepers and 20 AC semi sleepers. The buses were purchased using Rs 100 crore sanctioned by the government.
